About the Collier Webb Foundry
We hand make custom and bespoke brass lighting and hardware in antique and contemporary styles. We cast in brass and bronze in our own foundry have an extensive catalogue of furniture mounts, floor wall and ceiling lights and door hardware.
We are a British company that has been manufacturing brass, bronze, aluminium and silver castings in Sussex for over 35 years. Founded by the late Cedric Collier who had earlier started casting as a hobby, his new business produced handles and brass pieces for the antique trade – his calling card proudly stating: ‘ Cedric Collier, One Man Band’. Gradually progressing from humble beginnings and working in an ancient barn, he was soon joined by his son Geoff and over the next decade the company grew in size and reputation to become one of the foremost manufacturers of cast decorative items in the country. Cedric’s calling card now read: ‘One Man and his Band’ and his daughter Sheila had also joined the family business to manage the office and accounts.
By the time Cedric had retired, the level of sales had risen to the point where larger premises were urgently required and with Geoff at the helm, the move to our current building in Eastbourne took place in 2005. In 2011, to further cope with increased demand, we acquired the adjacent unit to house new machinery and a purpose built wiring room and Geoff’s daughter Dani joined full time to help with administration and packing. The band that Cedric started has now grown to over 35 members and with Geoff wielding the baton, the foundry is fully prepared to sustain its growth in the future.
Using Cedric’s and Geoff’s experience of perfecting the traditional techniques of lost wax and sand casting, we have been able to produce a range of over 800 specialised products including architectural hardware, furniture mounts and lighting which have been designed to assist restorers, architects and interior designers with their projects. Geoff Collier is director and general manager of the foundry and designer Andrew Webb joined in 2011 to become sales director at our gallery in Chelsea. The foundry’s products are viewable here and the gallery’s range of lighting, furniture and hardware is viewable on: www.collierwebb.com.
Since inception, we have amassed a huge archive of original antique patterns and we are adding new products on a regular basis. We are currently cataloguing thousands of drawings and several tons of patterns which date from the mid 19th to the turn of the 21st century and which have come from the archives of Britain’s largest and best known lighting manufacturer. Acquired shortly after their demise, this resource offers a tremendous opportunity from which to create revivals and reinterpretations of their best designs.
SERVICES & FACILITIES
Our foundry is situated in Eastbourne on the South Coast of England and the majority of our work is completed in-house by our team of skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques. Our policy of employing apprentices ensures that these skills will not vanish and that they can be passed on to future generations. In addition to casting, we also provide machining, metal working, assembling, polishing, colouring and electro-plating services.
For jobs and components requiring maximum accuracy, we have a well equipped CNC machine shop with two state of the art mills – with 4 and 5 axis tables – and a CNC lathe. Where required, this allows us to utilise the capabilities of all our departments to create items that combine the visual and tactile qualities of classical pieces with the fit and functionality of the highest quality new products.

We are also happy to work closely with clients from their concepts, rough sketches or detailed drawings to create bespoke and custom designs. From private individuals to leading designers, we can work on single pieces through to large scale manufacturing contracts. There are many private residences, stately homes and prestigious hotels worldwide containing examples of our work, so please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements in confidence. Visits are always welcome by appointment.
